Yes, CEOs Should Facebook And Twitter

I found this Forbes article linked on Linkedin (no pun intended) and thought it was an interesting read. While this article is about senior corporate involvement in social networking, it got me to thinking about how those not in the "C-suite" can utilize these media for their own business gains.

Yes, I enjoy Facebook and Twitter socially but I do think that there is so much more potential for both of them. As we are in this economic downturn and so many of us are faced with job loss, a greater emphasis is placed on networking and timely response to job postings when applying to positions.

Facebook, Twitter, Linkedin, etc. could be the edge that you're looking for to jump ahead of the competition. Be it, tweeted about a new job opportunity or seeing a news item/link on your friend's status. Act quickly on what you see or read and you could be well on your way to your next job. Unfortunately, its not always your work experience that lands you that interview but getting noticed and being at the right place at the right time.
